Garbage hauler crashes down embankment, driver reported killed
HILLBURN – The driver of a northbound tractor-trailer garbage hauling truck is reported to have been killed when his vehicle ran off the Thruway and down an embankment.

Police reports indicate the accident, which occurred after 3 p.m. in Hillburn near exit 15, involved the truck that overturned and crashed down a steep drop into the Ramapo River.

A haz-mat team and the state Health Department were called out to contain any potential environmental damage to garbage being dumped in the river.
