| Mahopac man charged with burglarizing doctor’s office, stealing, forging prescriptions |

MAHOPAC – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Mahopac man with breaking into a doctor’s office and stealing a prescription pad from a desk drawer. Michael Rivera, 34, is also suspected of forging two other prescription forms by signing the doctor’s name and taking them to a pharmacy where he obtained 120 Oxycodone and 120 Endocet pills. Rivera was charged with third degree burglary, three counts of forgery in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, and petit larceny. Police recovered the remainder of the stolen prescription forms in Rivera’s home. If convicted, Rivera faces up to 15 years in state prison. |
