MONTICELLO – Two people, with prior DWI convictions, were arrested by Monticello police, and now face felony charges. Jason Vonsteenburgh, with several traffic counts, including felony DWI and felony unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Vonsteenburgh, 26, of Eldred, was stopped about 7:15 Thursday night after police received a report of a pickup being operated erratically on Pleasant Street. The truck was later spotted by police, on Broadway. A chemical test showed Vonsteenburgh had a blood alcohol level of .16%, twice the state limit for intoxication. Because of a prior DWI conviction in 2008, resulting in revocation of license, the charges of DWI and unlicensed operation become felonies. Vonsteenburgh was also charged with no registration and no insurance. He is in the Monticello police lockup. On Friday, Police arrested Grace Venetten, 25, of Monticello, following an accident on Route 42, in front of Wendy’s. Police say Vanetten tried to make a left turn out of the restaurant, into the path of an oncoming vehicle. A chemical test showed Vanetten with a blood alcohol level of .26, more than three times the legal limit. Because of a 2002 DWI conviction, the new charge is a felony. Vanetten is in the Sullivan County jail in lieu of $7.500 bail.
