Four arrested in Route 17 heroin/cocaine bust

BLOOMING GROVE – A traffic stop on the Quickway turned into a major heroin bust,  Four Oneonta residents were arrested after police discovered a substantial quantity of heroin and cocaine in the vehicle, Monday afternoon.

Police initially stopped the car, in the westbound lane of Route 17, after observing numerous traffic violations.  A search of the vehicle revealed 169 packets of heroin, 122 grams of crack cocaine and 45 grams of cocaine.

The four occupants, Wayne Collins, 43, Melissa Alan, 23, Alexandria Johnson, 20 and Kathryn Gorman, 24, all of Oneonta, were arrested on a variety of charges, alleging criminal possession of a controlled substance in varying degrees.  Collins was additionally charged with possessing a forged drivers license.  Police also discovered Collins is currently on probation for a prior drug possession in 2008.

Collins is in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.  Bail was set at $10,000 for Alan and Gorman.  Johnson, facing a second degree possession charge, is being held without bail.
