Stimulus funds allocated for local health care facilities

WASHINGTON - Congressman Maurice Hinchey announced $1.5 million in economic recovery funding for health care centers in Newburgh and Middletown to make various capital improvements.

The Middletown Community Health Center will receive $763,415 and the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center will receive $722,325 in federal funding.  The funds were made available through the federal stimulus package.

The $1.5 million in new federal funds will be used for a variety of upgrades for both centers.

The Middletown Community Health Center will use the money to purchase medical equipment and to pay for infrastructure and technological improvements.  The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center will implement a system to catalogue electronic health records for better accuracy of patient records, which will translate into improved patient care.
