Three charged with sexually abusing young boys

POUGHKEEPSIE – Two men and a woman have been arrested and charged with sexually abusing two young boys.

Charges were Robert Rogler, 55, and Kathleen Callanan, 43, both of Hyde Park, and David Hotaling, 32, of Poughkeepsie.

One of the victims was abused over a four year period and the other, over the past two years, authorities said.

The investigation was conducted by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office and the Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center.

Investigators said Rogler knew the families of the boys, befriended them by taking them fishing and to lunch and dinner.

Rogler was located in Canton, OH, questioned and detained. He is expected to be brought back to Dutchess County by sheriff’s officers later this week and will be charged with predatory sexual assault of a child as a felony. He was previously convicted of child sexual abuse in 1988, prior to the current sex offender laws and registration.

Police also questioned Callanan earlier this month and arrested her on six counts of rape in the second degree, a felony. She was arraigned and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Last week, authorities arrested Hotaling, charging him with predatory sexual abuse of a child. He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Anyone who has information about the three suspects or anyone whose children may have had contract with them is asked to call the Dutchess county Child Advocacy Center at 845-486-5112 or contact your local police. The investigation is continuing and all calls will be kept confidential.
