| Mahopac woman accused of stealing snow plow in Elmsford |
|
ELMSFORD—A Mahopac woman faces charges that could result in a lengthy state prison term following her arrest in Elmsford for attempting to steal a snow plow. Cops in Westchester arrested Amanda McKenzie, 27, Wednesday after she reportedly attempted to drive off in the plow that was parked in front of a motel on Saw Mill River Road. Police told the Courier when the snow plow driver attempted to stop her, the Putnam County woman continued driving the vehicle knocking the man to the pavement. Greenburgh Police charged McKenzie with felony counts of robbery, DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. McKenzie was arraigned on the charges and was remanded to the Westchester County Jail on bail pending future court action. Putnam District Attorney Adam Levy said second degree robbery was the most serious charge than can result in a 15 year state prison term if the woman is found guilty. Police said the tow truck operator escaped injury.
