NEW YORK – A New York City cop who lives in Otisville was arrested Friday for allegedly laundering money for her boyfriend’s drug trafficking operation.

Authorities allege that Yaniris Balbuena, who has been with the NYPD since 2000, received thousands of dollars in drug proceeds from her boyfriend, who was a known narcotics trafficker in the Bronx. She deposited over $230,000 in cash into nine bank accounts she controlled.

Balbuena is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.  If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of over $500,000.
