DPW to hold information meeting on Old Fallsburg Road Bridge replacement

FALLSBURG - The Sullivan County Division of Public Works has announced that a public information meeting will be held to discuss the proposed replacement of the County Route 53 (Old Fallsburg Road) Bridge over the Neversink River. The meeting will be held at the Town of Fallsburg Court House, 19 Railroad Plaza, South Fallsburg, on Thursday, February 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Division of Public Works in cooperation with the State Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration is developing design studies for the replacement of the County Route 53 Bridge over the Neversink River at Old Falls in the Town of Fallsburg. The project will start at the intersection of County Route 53 and State Route 42 and extend to the intersection of County Route 53 and Riverside Drive.

The purpose of the meeting is to obtain comments on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials and local agencies. The department is specifically soliciting comments on the development of alternates for the project and comments on the project’s social, economic and environmental effects.
