Westchester laborer extradited from Guatemala, indicted on 28 sex charges

WHITE PLAINS – A 30-year-old Guatemalan national, who lived in Bedford, has been indicted on 28 counts stemming from allegations that he had sexual contact with a nine-year-old child over a one year period from September 2005 to August 2006.

Cesar Joel Sagastume-Morales disappeared from the Bronx and was thought to be in another state until it was learned he was in Guatemala.

Authorities there were contacted and located him. He was extradited to the US and remanded to the Westchester County Jail. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in state prison.

Among the charges Sagastume-Morales faces are course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree, use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, sex abuse in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
