| Elderly man dies in Columbia County house fire |

LIVINGSTON – An elderly man died in a house fire Saturday night, State Police at Livingston said Sunday. Columbia County 911 received a report of a fire at 35 Twin Drive in the Town of Livingston at 7:15 p.m. with one person trapped inside. Attempts were made by fire and police personnel to gain access. Donald Lynk, 84, was found dead inside once firefighters were able to get inside the building. The fire was determined under control almost three hours after it was reported. The cause is under investigation by the Columbia County fire Cause and Origin Team, State Police, and State Office of Fire Prevention and Control. Livingston, Greenport, Clermont and Taghkanic fire departments were all on the scene. Northern Dutchess Paramedics and Greenport Rescue also assisted at the scene. This is the second fatal fire in days. On Friday, two elderly people died in a house fire in Wingdale.
