|
MONTICELLO – A Parksville man is in the Sullivan County Jail awaiting extradition to New Jersey for allegedly committed an armed robbery of a jewelry store in Ho-Ho-Kus on November 14. Charles Long, 52, of 33 Highview Acres in Parksville, allegedly held a screwdriver to the necks of the jewelry store owner and an employee, locked them in a back room and stolen some $28,000 in jewelry and $800 in cash before fleeing. It turns out the New Jersey authorities identified Long as the suspect, who was at the time, in the Sullivan County Jail on an unrelated charge after being violated by the New York State Division of Parole. Jersey police contacted the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, said Undersheriff Eric Chaboty. Detectives interviewed Long, who admitted to them that he committed the robbery and sold the jewelry to a store at the Orange Plaza in the Town of Wallkill. Town Police in Wallkill recovered all but two of the stolen items. Ho-Ho-Kus Police lodged a warrant at the Sullivan County Jail charging Long with two counts of robbery. |
