Newburgh man sentenced for killing girlfriend

Thompson

KINGSTON – Eddie Thompson, Jr., 67, of Newburgh, was sentenced in Ulster County Court on Thursday to 25 years in state prison for shooting his girlfriend to death in her Milton home on October 28, 2008.

Thompson shot Frances Johnson once in the back and once in the face after they argued and he pistol whipped the woman.

He was convicted of manslaughter in the first degree in October of this year.

After Thompson was found guilty, Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright called the case “horrific domestic violence homicide.”
