Pot found at Middletown High

MIDDLETOWN – Middletown High School was the site of a drug sweep Tuesday and for the first time since they have been conducted, a small amount of marijuana was discovered. In the past, no drugs were found.

District Director of Security Ken Haverlan Thursday said the student has been identified and appropriate actions will be taken both by the school district and the police.

The drug sweep was conducted by 11 K-9 units from Middletown and the surrounding areas. They searched lockers and public areas of the school while it remained on lock-down/lock-out mode.

K-9 units hot on two lockers; however, one contained the pot.

The district has conducted random drug searched since 2005 at the high school.
