Spring Valley swears in first female mayor

SPRING VALLEY – Veteran trustee and deputy mayor Noramie Jasmin Monday night was sworn in as the Village of Spring Valley’s first female mayor and first Haitian-American mayor in the state.

Jasmin has been credited during her tenure on the board of trustees as having contributed to economic development and initiatives to bring in new business and jobs.

She has received a number of awards including the Unsung Heroes Award and the African American Chamber of Commerce Award.

Also sworn in were Trustees Joseph Desmaret and Joseph Gross.
