| Entergy awards $275,000 in funds to local responders |

BUCHANAN – Entergy announced grant awards totaling 275,000 to 15 local organizations as part of the company’s new Safety Responders Fund program. The grant program is designed to help fund training and equipment purchases for first responders in the vicinity of Indian Point Energy Center. The following organizations will receive funding in this round of grant announcements. • Animal Response Team of Rockland County • Buchanan Engine Company #1 • Cortlandt Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps • Cortlandt Engine Company #1 • Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association • Montrose Fire District • Orange County Department of Emergency Services • Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services • Rockland County Emergency Medical Service • Rockland County Sheriff’s Department • Town of Cortlandt • Town of Highlands Police Department • Village of Ossining Police Department • Westchester Institute for Human Development • Yorktown Police Department The Safety Responders Fund program accepts applications twice a year. The awards announced Monday constitute the first round. Applications for the second round will be accepted from December 7 through January 31, 2010. Awards for the second round will be announced in the first half of 2010. |
