| Man wanted for impersonating sheriff’s deputy |
|
PATTERSON – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man, who showed up at a Patterson resident’s door, told her she was a member of the sheriff’s office, and wanted to inspect the interior of her home. When the woman told the man she would put her dog away, the man left the area on foot. Investigators scoured the Bullet Hole Road area, but found no traces of the man. The suspect wore a black uniform-type shirt without any distinct markings and a black tie. He was described as a white male, between 20 and 30 years of age, five feet, nine inches tall, 150 pounds, with blue eyes, thin build and with medium length brown hair parted in the middle and combed back behind his earns. Sheriff Donald Smith said his uniformed deputies and corrections officers wear black ties held by a tie clip, wear dark colored uniforms that have an official badge over the left pocket, collar devices and a name plate above the right front pocket of the uniform shirt. Putnam deputies also have a Putnam County Sheriff’s patch sewn on the upper left sleeve and an American flag emblem sewn on the right sleeve. Smith said authentic deputies will identify themselves and reveal the purpose of their visit. Further identification may be obtained upon request. |
