Man shot on Newburgh street

NEWBURGH – A 19-year-old Newburgh man was shot in the neck as he walked on First Street and turned the corner onto South Miller shortly after 8 p.m. Friday night.

City Police in Newburgh said the man was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the right side of his neck.

The victim was able to tell officers that he was walking along when he heard several gunshots. He turned to look and at that moment felt something strike him in the neck.

He was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh and later flown to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.  His condition was unknown as of mid-day Saturday.
