Four fatal crash victims identified

SOUTH FALLSBURG – Police have identified the four victims of Saturday’s South Fallsburg crash who were killed when their car struck a tree.

They were identified as Wilmer Hernandez, 31, and Jesse Maldonado, 19, both of South Fallsburg; Erlin Rubio, 24, of Woodridge; and Jose Rivera, 31, of Swan Lake.

Two other passengers in the car, Chris Edwards, 24, of Liberty, and Ever Padilla, 22, of South Fallsburg, suffered serious injuries and were flown to Westchester Medical Center.

The crash occurred on Saturday morning when the car in which they were riding failed to negotiate a curve on Pleasant Valley Road, side wiped another vehicle, then ran off the road and struck a tree.

The impact was so severe that the car broke in half.
