Officer shoots suspect as cops conduct drug raid

YONKERS – As Yonkers Police Narcotics Unit officers entered 110 Brendon Hill Road late Thursday night armed with a search warrant, a member of the unit shot one of the suspects in the leg inside the residence.

The injured suspect was placed under arrest and transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released to officers. The Internal Affairs Division is investigating the shooting.

Five others inside the residence were also arrested. They were all charged with drug related offenses.

Charged were James Overmars, 21, of New Rochelle, the injured suspect; Toniann Orichello, 17, of Hopewell Junction; Raymond Leone, 48, of Yonkers; Daniel Defreitas, 26, of Mount Vernon; Michael Mcalvain, 29, of Mount Vernon; and Sequoya Brown, 28, of Yonkers.
