| Sullivan considers designating two businesses as “Regionally Significant Projects” |
|
MONTICELLO - The Sullivan County Legislature is expected to begin discussions to designate two Sullivan County businesses as “Regionally Significant Projects,” or RSPs, under New York’s Empire Zone Program during Thursday’s Community and Economic Development Committee meeting. “The purpose of designating businesses as ‘regionally significant projects’ through the EZ is to allow these businesses to take advantage of a number of New York State tax incentives, which help attract new businesses and assist existing businesses with their expansion and job creation efforts,” said committee Chairman Elwin Wood. Boreal Water Collection purchased Leisure Time Spring Water in Kiamesha Lake earlier this year, and is in the process of expanding its production capability and product line. The company anticipates increasing its employment to more than 50 local residents in the near future, and will also add additional equipment to their facility as they ramp up their local operations. The Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development, which administers The Empire Zone program, has also begun preliminary discussions with Shelburne Plastic of South Burlington, Vermont, to encourage the company to relocate to Sullivan County. Shelburne is a manufacturer of plastic containers and considers Sullivan County a prime location for distribution of its products. |
