Motorcyclist dies in Cragsmoor crash

CRAGMOOR – A Walden man was killed Thursday afternoon as he rode his motorcycle on Route 52 in Cragsmoor, lost control and struck a guardrail. Jonathan Owens, 20, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.

Another motorcyclist, Marjervy Castro, 21, also of Walden, attempted to avoid Owens’ accident, lost control and was also ejected.

He was flown to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie where he was admitted with a broken arm and internal injuries.

Although the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, the State Police said they believe excessive speed was a factor in both operators losing control of their bikes.
