College budget cuts will stand, president says

NEW PALTZ – The comment period is coming to a close on the SUNY New Paltz plan to slice $6 million out of the school’s budget and eliminate the nursing education program.

College President Steven Poskanzer told the College Council that no one is happy with the budget.

“I do believe, I’m certain, that there is a growing understanding of necessary steps that had to be taken and confidence that we are responding to this is a thoughtful and wise and rational forward looking way,” he said.

Poskanzer said he does not expect any changes to be made to the proposed spending reduction plan.
