Emergency personnel try to save victim

SWAN LAKE – A man was killed Monday as a crew was building a new driveway at his home, Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty said.

Ignazio Constantino, 72, died when a dump truck backed over him.

Deputies responded to a house at 4587 Route 55 in Swan Lake shortly before 11 a.m. Officers found that a construction crew was in the process of building a driveway and the truck backed over Constantino. He was taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies were assisted by Bethel Constables, the Swan Lake Fire Department and Liberty Paramedics.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by sheriff’s detectives.
