No standoff, no weapon in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE – Reports to police that a man with a gun was in a Summit Avenue residence in the Town of Poughkeepsie turned out to be false.

Town Police sent SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams to the scene, but information was eventually developed that the man who made the initial call to a housemate was actually living on North Hamilton Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Town and city police investigated and it turned out the man did not have a handgun and no one was injured.

City of Poughkeepsie Police are now investigating what occurred in the city, but no charges are pending in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
