Fresh off the barge
"Fresh Off the Barge," a floating farmers' market on a historic restored barge and tug will be coming to Yonkers on July 11th and 12th and will be open for tours in the afternoon. On Saturday, July 12th, we are holding a cocktail party fundraiser from 5 to 9 PM on the second floor of the Yonkers Recreation Pier. Tickets are $100 per person/$150 per couple.

There will be a second visit to Yonkers from the Floating Farmers' Market on September 26th and 27th.

Metropolitan Klezmer at SCCC
Location: Sullivan County Community College Seelig Theatre, Loch Sheldrake campus.
Sullivan County Community College will present a performance by the Metropolitan Klezmer on Thursday, July 10, in the Seelig Theatre at the College's Loch Sheldrake campus.

Founded in 1994, Metropolitan Klezmer is the collaborative adventure of eight New York musicians who create inspired interpretations and original songs around a panorama of Yiddish repertoire and related traditions.

Metropolitan Klezmer will perform at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for seniors (65 and over), students and staff. Group rates of $10 are available for groups of 20 or more. Tickets are available at the College's Campus Activities Office located in Statler Hall (Room H122) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or at the Box Office one hour prior to the performance. Bethel Summer Farmers' Market
Time: 9:00am - 1:00pm
Location: Corner of Hurd and West Shore Roads in Bethel, NY
Fresh produce, exotic potatoes, locally-produced wine and cheese are among the vegetables and farm products that form the basis of the new Bethel Summer Farmers Market on Saturdays in July and August. It's located at the site of the "Original Woodstock Festival" and "Day in the Garden Concerts."

The market will be open on the seven Saturdays between July 5 and August 16. Admission and parking are free.

Farm booths will be located under a tent across the road from the festival monument area, with parking adjacent to the vending area. No pets are allowed.

Regional producers of vegetables, meat, dairy and value added agricultural products are welcome to participate. For information and an application, call market manager Ruby Gold at 845-295-2440.

Nature puppet show

4-H Summer Fair
Time: 11:00am - 4:00pm
Location: Muscoot Farm in Somers
Celebrate summer and learn about many achievements of local youth at the 4-H Summer Fair, which features a variety of exhibits, craft vendors, music and an old-fashioned Cake Walk.

The event is presented by the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester County.

The theme of this year's fair is "4-H: Believe in Youth for a Better Tomorrow" and will include environmental exhibits and demonstrations.

The fair will highlight projects by Westchester young people, ranging in age from 5 to 19. The projects include animal grooming, conservation, photography, woodworking and much more. All projects will be evaluated and achievement ribbons will be awarded.

Marino campaign headquarters - opening

Newburgh Mayor Andrew Marino and his running mates, George Bowles and Dr. Nicole Mogul, are pleased to announce the official opening of their campaign headquarters - at 280 Broadway, Main floor, on Saturday, July 12.

All are invited to attend. There will be music, refreshments and, of course, political speeches.

Contributions - in funds or volunteer hours - are welcome.

Sunset Serenades concert
Time: 6:00pm
Location: Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Somers
Get in the mood for some Big Band music when the world-renowned Stan Rubin Orchestra performs the second concert of the "Sunset Serenades" series on Saturday evening, July 12.

Stan Rubin and his orchestra will re-create the favorite tunes that were made forever popular by such immortal bandleaders as Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman. Sit back and relax as the band takes you back to the Swing Era and listen to "String of Pearls," "Chattanooga Choo-Choo," and the romantic "Moonlight Serenade," along with "Sing, Sing, Sing" and its famous drum solo.

The gates open at 5 p.m. for picnicking; the music begins at 6 p.m. Tickets for the Sunset Serenades are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 18. Group tickets are available by calling Philharmonia Virtuosi at (914) 693-5595.

Seating at the park is informal and concert-goers should bring blankets or chairs for seating on the lawn. Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the concert. No pets are allowed at the park. Please note that parking is approximately one-third mile from the concert area. Shuttle bus transportation and parking for the disabled are available. Rest rooms are accessible to the disabled.
