School's Out Smoke Out
Location: Rye Playland
Teens from the region are invited to Playland Saturday, June 21 for the 3rd annual "School's Out Smoke Out," a day of fun activities and free concerts to reinforce the message of Westchester's "Butt-out" and "Face Value" campaigns to deter youth smoking.

Sponsored by POW'R Against Tobacco (a coalition of organizations from Putnam, Orange, Westchester and Rockland), the event begins at noon with informational booths and displays and will feature live entertainment at the Park's stage. There will be special activities geared to teens, ride ticket promotions and other special events throughout the day including slam poetry and step dancing contests.

Joining forces with the County and POW'R Against Tobacco will be Westchester's Reality Check, which works to empower youth against the lure of Big Tobacco.

For information at the event, Tivoli Day Staff will be wearing "Light Blue" Staff shirts. Parking on Broadway, North and Woods Road will be prohibited from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and Pine Street will be closed to traffic.

Birds at Muscoot Farm
Time: 8:00am
Location: Muscoot Farm in Somers
Learn to identify birds by the sounds they make during a two hour walk through the back fields of Muscoot Farm on Saturday, June 21.

Naturalist Jeanne Waful will lead a hike to hear and identify dozens of bird species that make Muscoot their home and that are normally very active in June. The program is good for beginners or people who want to sharpen their birding skills.

Participants should bring binoculars, a field guide and comfortable shoes. The program is free and registration is not required.


Little Ones' Library Hosts Third Birthday Bash

Location: Rochester Reformed Church, 5142 Rte. 209, Accord
The Little Ones' Library is turning three and a celebration is planned for Saturday, June 21. We'll be celebrating three years of serving very young children in the Accord-Kerhonkson area, and that means there will be singing, party games, and plenty of ice cream and cake!! W'll read books about birthdays and different ways to celebrate them. All youngsters, and their adult caregivers are invited to our party to play, count candles and help us celebrate. Come see what surprise gift will be given to the Little Ones Library this year. In the past, unwrapping it has been as much fun as finding out what s inside. For attendees who would like to bring a small gift to the celebration children enjoy using stickers, glue sticks, cotton balls, fat crayons, colored paper and contact paper at the Library. The party is free of charge gifts are optional.

The Little Ones' Library, located at the, serves children from birth through early elementary age. Established by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County, with help from community partners, it provides library experiences for children in the rural Accord/Kerhonkson area. Open House at Historic West Point Foundry

Location: Cold Springs, NY
The public can step back to the dawn of the Industrial Revolution by visiting the ruins of a local manufacturing facility renowned internationally for its technological innovations. Scenic Hudson and Michigan Technological University will host guided tours of the digs at the West Point Foundry site in Cold Spring on Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. (rain or shine).

During tours visitors will explore the ruins of the foundry's boring mill, blast furnace and the casting house where workers made the first three domestic locomotive trains, the Civil War's world-famous Parrott cannon, sugar mills, steam engines and boilers and massive pipes for parts of New York City's water system. One of the nation's most pioneering and productive industrial facilities, the West Point Foundry is on the National Register of Historic Places. Industrial archeologists from Michigan Tech will give insider's tour of their current research and discoveries.

The event is free and open to the public.

Directions: From the intersection of Route 9D and Main Street (Route 301) in Cold Spring, take second left onto Kemble Avenue and continue to the end (follow signs). Tivoli Day 2003 Chili Cook Off
Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm
Location: Memorial Park Pavilion, Tivoli
Are you a chili lover? Can you make a good chili? Well then why not enter the Annual Chili Cook Off? It will be held Saturday, June 21st. No entry fee. All entrants are welcome and there are three different categories for entrants: Individual, Organization, and Fire Company. Trophies for the winner of each category.

Entries should be in a 4.5 quart crock pot and should be dropped off near the Memorial Park Pavilion between 4:30 - 5:00 pm that day. For more information contact Dave at 845-758-1718 or Terry at 845-757-3809. Good luck to all entrants.



Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Location: The Bardavon, Poughkeepsie, NY
Hudson Valley Performing Arts proudly presents Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's award winning Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Poughkeepsie's historic Bardavon 1869 Opera House for an unheard of seven performance run.

The musical sends the inspiring message: If you follow your dreams there are no limits to what you can achieve. This story is told with the help of a live 8 piece orchestra, elaborate sets including motorized turntables and gigantic stair cases, lighting by professional designer Michael Reese who works on Broadway and across the world as a professional lighting designer, an extremely talented and versatile cast of close to 80 that range in ages from 4-70+.

Performance times are: June 13,14 at 8pm, June 15 @ 2&7pm, June 20 at 8pm, and June 21 at 2&8pm. Tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for students/seniors, and $19 for Bardavon members and groups of 10 or more.
