Bike, Skate and Scooter Sundays
Time: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Location: Bronx River Parkway in White Plains
A portion of the Bronx River Parkway closes to vehicular traffic and opens for bicycles, skates and scooters between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., excluding holiday weekends, in May and June. In the event of rain, the Bike, Skate & Scooter Sundays will be cancelled.

Admission is free; parking at the Westchester County Center is $4.



“Fun In Fitness” Festival at Kensico Dam
Time: 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Location: Kensico Dam Plaza, north end of the Bronx River Parkway in Valhalla
The new Fun in Fitness Festival is a day-long event to encourage people of all ages to have fun getting – and keeping – fit. The program will feature a host of interactive workshops, informational exhibits, games and entertainment for families and individuals of all ages. Special guest at the festival will be John Starks, formerly of the New York Knicks and coach of the Westchester Wildfire regional professional basketball team. There will be entertainment and refreshments for sale throughout the event. Admission is free.

The festival will be held rain or shine.

Exhibitor space is free. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fathers Day square dance
Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Location: Muscoot Farm in Somers
Celebrate Father's Day in an unusual way by kicking up your heels and learning how to square dance Sunday, June 15.

Have fun, meet new people and get some exercise as you learn some new dance steps in this old-fashioned fun filled fest to mark the day in the calendar when we give thanks to dads.

The event is presented by Dragonwood Public Square Dances, which works to make square dancing accessible to everyone, no experience needed. The caller will teach all the calls used during the dance, so there is no need to worry about knowing what you are doing.

Children should be able to follow the caller's instructions and young people under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

There is a fee of $5 per person. Registration is not required.




Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Location: The Bardavon, Poughkeepsie, NY
Hudson Valley Performing Arts proudly presents Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's award winning Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Poughkeepsie's historic Bardavon 1869 Opera House for an unheard of seven performance run.

The musical sends the inspiring message: If you follow your dreams there are no limits to what you can achieve. This story is told with the help of a live 8 piece orchestra, elaborate sets including motorized turntables and gigantic stair cases, lighting by professional designer Michael Reese who works on Broadway and across the world as a professional lighting designer, an extremely talented and versatile cast of close to 80 that range in ages from 4-70+.

Performance times are: June 13,14 at 8pm, June 15 @ 2&7pm, June 20 at 8pm, and June 21 at 2&8pm. Tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for students/seniors, and $19 for Bardavon members and groups of 10 or more. Music at Memorial: "An Evening of Opera Arias and Duets"
Time: 8:00pm
Location: Memorial United Methodist Church in White Plains
Soprano Evelyn Thatcher and mezzo-soprano Hayden DeWitt will perform a benefit concert An Evening of Opera Arias and Duets on Sunday, June 15.

The program will feature selections from Der Rosenkavalier, The Merry Widow, Gypsy Love,the Tales of Hoffman, Romeo and Juliet, Don Giovanni, Linda di Chamounix, Ariodante, Mozart (by Reynaldo Hahn), Zaide, and Il Re Pastore.

The singers will be accompanied by David Baranowski, Memorial's director of music. The concert is the latest installment of the monthly "Music at Memorial" series.

Admission is a free will offering. Proceeds will help the singers get to Bulgaria, where Thatcher will perform the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Hayden will perform the role of Carmen in Carmen in the end of June 2003.
